Action Alert: Speak Out Against the Illegal “Triumphal Arch”

Our voices are our strongest tools for addressing the continued chaotic and often illegal actions undertaken by this administration. Today, we are asking you to speak out against the so-called "Triumphal Arch," the overpowering structure that the administration is rushing to build without adhering to applicable requirements that would apply to a massive project of this nature.

 LDAD's Action Alert and accompanying Briefing Materials walk you through exactly what you need to know to submit comments in response to the government's Federal Register notice. Please note that the time to submit comments ends on Monday, June 15, before midnight. 

LDAD's Action Alert explains the many ways that the administration is ignoring laws and regulations in its chaotic rush to change the face of Washington, DC, forever. This particular project would dominate the historic vista between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Notwithstanding the size of the structure and the sensitivity of the location, the administration has ignored requirements that directly apply to its proposal.

 Every one of us has an obligation to insist that the rule of law, the Constitution, and the norms and principles of democracy are faithfully followed by our government leaders. Indeed, the role of government is to model compliance with these foundational principles, not to spend its time in court defending efforts to evade them. 

LDAD will continue to provide Action Alerts to facilitate your rapid responses to actions that undermine the rule of law and the Constitution. Each of us has a role to play in responding, in whatever ways we can, to these continued attacks on our democratic institutions. Indeed, it is our obligation to future generations to protect and preserve our democracy so they may inherit the freedoms and institutions on which it depends.

• Submit a comment to oppose the proposed triumphal arch before the imminent deadline: midnight, June 15, 2026. Review our Action Alert Briefing Materials to assist you in preparing your own comment. In addition, please see our Meeting the Moment Tips for Commenting Effectively on Proposed Rules.
• Speak out on multiple platforms against the proposed rule to ensure the public understands the risks it poses to the rule of law. Write articles and letters to the editor and post on social media. Reach out to local podcasters and radio shows to share why the proposed arch must not be built.
